Mr. Rakesh Telawne, Managing Director

The power sector is a key indicator of any nation’s economic growth. Governments worldwide are investing heavily in their power infrastructure to meet the rising demand for electricity. And with the increasing focus on renewable electric power generation, deployment of smart transformers, and the replacement of existing aged power transformers, the transformer market is also experiencing rapid growth. Among the companies that are making great strides in this thriving market, Telawne Power Equipment (TPE) is a name worth mentioning.

Founded in 2004, TPE is a dynamic and innovative company that specializes in the manufacturing of transformers, as well as providing customized allied services and distribution solutions. With almost 18 years of experience in the industry, the company has successfully supplied its products to over 55 countries worldwide. And it has established a strong sales network throughout India. The company currently operates from two state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities located in Navi Mumbai, specifically in Rabale and Taloja. Additionally, its head office and marketing office is situated in Thane.

The Power Equipment Company was co-founded by Rakesh Telawne continuing the legacy of his father who laid the foundation in the industry in 1988. Sharing about the factors that led him to foray into this industry, he stated, “My father is my first inspiration. The second reason is the stability power industry. Consumers must upgrade or replace their equipment every 20 to 30 years, creating a consistent demand for its products. Unlike other industries, such as consumer electronics, there is no mass production disruption in the power equipment segment, making it a stable and reliable industry. Personally, having a passion for business development and international marketing, I felt it was important to scale the business to new heights.”

Leading Globally

Initially, the company focused on service activities for transformers, but gradually realized that the demand for transformer manufacturing was high. It established its credibility with industrial customers and obtained licenses to supply particularly to large buyers. Over time, its domestic network expanded from Mumbai to Pune, Nagpur, Baroda, Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Chennai. Today, it has representative offices all over India and has created a robust service network to support its customers.

Today, Telawne Power Equipment is proud to have expanded its reach to developed countries. With representative offices in Spain and channel partners in various countries, such as Angola, Kenya, Tanzania, and Congo, it also envisions strengthening its presence in Europe and North America. The company is committed to growing its business further in these regions in 2023 and beyond.

Bigger Goals

The company provides a range of power equipment and services, including transformers for various segments including real estate, and utilities, and also focuses on renewable energy. It has an internal R&D team that identifies emerging needs and works towards developing new solutions. Its management team constantly looks for opportunities to bring variation and innovation to its offerings. The company strives to make the most of its products in India while ensuring they meet the high standards of developed countries. “While we have achieved a turnover of 150Cr in FY 2022-23, we look to exceed 250 cr in revenue by 2024. In addition to revenue growth, we are also focused on obtaining key certifications and partnerships that will allow us to expand into new markets. These are our immediate goals, and we are committed to working tirelessly to achieve them,” Rakesh Telawne, MD shares.

The company's vision is to become a global leader in power equipment manufacturing by expanding its exports to Europe and the North America, where it sees immense growth potential.
