Over the years people have been migrating to different countries either in search of better living conditions or for more advanced career opportunities. To encourage the correct kind of human employment for the jobs that need to be done in the country, many nations open their borders to people of other ethnicities and cultures. Canada is one such nation that has traditionally welcomed immigrants. Over 405,000 people became permanent residents in Canada in 2021 despite the pandemic. Better prospects for migrants:
- Candidates with higher education, language proficiency in either English or French, or both, or with Canadian experience (employees or students) may achieve a higher CRS score and be selected through Express Entry.
- Those candidates who obtain a provincial nomination are eligible for 600 additional points. Additional points are available for those who have a job offer in Canada or siblings who live there.
What is the process to get permanent residency in Canada through the Express Entry System?
You must be eligible for one of the three economic immigration streams in order to submit an Express Entry application:
- Canadian Experience Class: This approach is available to those who have three years of prior Canadian employment experience. The majority of foreign students in Canada apply for PR in this manner.
- Federal Skilled Worker Program: Applicants with prior work experience abroad are eligible. Age, education, work history, and other characteristics are taken into account.
- Federal Skilled Trades Programme: This program accepts applications from those with expertise in manufacturing, agriculture, and construction.

A score is given to the profile. To qualify for Express Entry, you will need 67 or more points out of 100. Once you qualify as eligible, you need to have the required CRS score as well. There are a maximum of 1200 points in the CRS system. A cut-off score is announced for every Express Entry draw. The Canadian government invites those who score above the cut-off to apply for a PR visa (ITA). Till now there have been three drawers. CRS's latest draw score is 533. Based on the most recent CRS draw, this is the cut-off score. A person who achieves this score or higher would receive an invitation to apply for Express Entry.

Federal Skilled Worker (FSW), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and Federal Skilled Trades (FST) candidates were considered in the August 3 Express Entry draw. As part of the Express Entry draw for immigration to Canada on August 3, 2,000 invitations to apply (ITAs) were issued. For this draw, the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) cut-off threshold was 533 points, nine points lower than the July 20 draw. At present, the Express Entry pool of candidates has the highest number of active profiles in its history. The number of candidates in the pool was 238,924 as of August 2, roughly the same as two weeks earlier. Approximately 13,000 candidates joined the pool between July 6 and July 20, bringing the total to 239,000. The Express Entry program is an excellent choice if you are eager to become a permanent resident of Canada.
