Maruti Suzuki India (MSI), the country's largest carmaker, reported a total wholesale of 1,61,413 units in May. MSI said in a statement that it sold 46,555 units in May 2021.

Domestic sales increased to 1,34,222 units last month, up from 35,293 units in May 2021, according to the report. "The May 2022 sales results are not comparable to those of May 2021 because the company's operations in May 2021 were considerably impacted by COVID-19-related disruptions," the automaker explained. Last month, sales of compact cars such as the Alto and S-Presso totaled 17,408 units. In the same month the previous year, it was 4,760.

In May of this year, the business reported 67,947 units sold in the compact sector, that includes models like the Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno, and Dzire. It was 20,343 units in the same period the previous year.

Ciaz, a mid-size automobile, sold 586 units during the period under consideration. In May 2021, it was 349 units.

MSI reported that utility vehicle sales that include the Vitara Brezza, S-Cross, and Ertiga, totaled 28,051 units in March, up from 6,355 units the previous month.

Last month, there were 10,482 van dispatches. It was 1,096 units in May of the previous year. Exports were 27,191 units last month, up from 11,262 units in May of last year.
