KFC India has launched an effort called 'KFConscious,' which aims to establish sustainable restaurants' by utilizing energy efficiency and environmentally friendly materials, the company announced on Sunday.
According to the business, the city's first sustainable restaurant has opened in Thiyagaraya Nagar (T Nagar).
"A first for the country's Quick Service Restaurant business," according to a corporate release, "the restaurant is located at Thiyagarayanagar (T Nagar) in Chennai," demonstrating the brand's dedication to sustainable growth.
"KFC's efforts with the KFConscious project are in line with the company's overall goal of lowering greenhouse gas emissions by 46% by 2030. This comes on top of a pledge to make all plastic-based consumer-facing packaging recoverable or reusable by 2025, according to the statement.
Energy efficiency, the use of environmentally friendly materials, and trash disposal are all included in the restaurant's design and operations. The brand's continued efforts in the journey are carried forward with this launch.
According to the corporation, another KFC location along the Yamunanagar Expressway food court is notable for its energy efficiency.
The business plans to open 20 more such restaurants by 2022, to allow customers to enjoy their favorite KFC recipes more responsibly, according the company.

According to company officials, the solar panels at the restaurant in Chennai would save roughly 18,000 units of electricity per year, while 100% of the water collected from The O system will be used for flushing in the washrooms.
Energy efficiency is ensured through the use of natural and LED lighting, while an energy management system in the kitchen ensures efficient use of electricity.
KFC has also used environmentally friendly materials for wall finishes, such as local clay tiles, according to the report.
