Dr. (HC) PK Rajput shared his insights on ways to promote the healthcare industry and stressed the need for greater collaboration.

Dr. (HC) PK Rajput, Senior Vice president of International Business at Cadila Pharmaceuticals, one of the oldest and largest privately-held pharma companies in the country, was invited as a faculty at the 17th CII EXIM Bank Conclave on India-Africa Growth Partnership.

The Conclave, endorsed by 43 countries in Africa, was attended by 30 ministers from 15 nations and close to 1,500 delegates, including 500 from over 40 African countries. Senior ministers from the central government, besides Mauritius Vice President Marie Cyril Eddy Boissezon, Gambia’s Vice President Badara A Joof, Zambia Vice President WK Mutale Nalumango, and Namibia’s Deputy PM Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah participated in the Conclave.

Dr Rajput’s address on the second day of the Conclave was at the session SERV Africa – Healthcare & Pharmaceutical Sector, which was attended by health ministers from different African countries and senior government officials.

His address focused on three basic requirements to build businesses, which included collaboration by way of public-private partnership in licensing, detail design, and skill building, innovation by way of implementing the latest techniques in drug production, and technology transfer in the form of production of vaccines, data analysis, usage of AR/VR, etc.

“It was an honour for me to represent my company Cadila Pharmaceuticals and the Indian pharma industry before an august gathering comprising dignitaries from India and Africa,” he said.

The address also stressed on good health, quality education, decent work and economic growth, and industry innovation and infrastructure to achieve various Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030.

Extending the CII wishes to Mr Rajput and highlighted his role in the conclave, Rakhee Gupta, Director - International (Africa), CII said  “The two-day event has received an extremely outstanding response with renewed interest in the African region,” .

Spread across two days with 22 focused sessions, the CII-EXIM Bank Conclave witnessed participation by almost 100 speakers from all over the world including 5 heads of state from Africa, 31 ministers from Africa, and three senior ministers from India. More than 1,300 delegates from 40 African countries participated in the event.
